Chicano Park 2011

There was no other place I would have rather been this weekend than at Chicano Park in Logan Heights San Diego California. This year it was packed full with some of the nicest lowriders and a lot of Raza...

Some homeboys party to hard...

Two girls three wheelin.. As one of my friends said, "That's Sexy!"

After the show we cruised over to the Tribal warehouse and Cabrones MC Party with Cisneros & Johnny.

I gave Johnny a purple nurple, he liked it.

Salud..

If you like low riders and never been to Chicano Park Day kick your self.. Best Low Rider show!

Legendary Weekend - Saturday

After getting about 3.5 hours asleep Saturday morning me and Lil Watcha left Salinas for San Diego at around 5:30 am (really early for me) But for Chicano Park Day it's worth waking up!

We got there around 12:30 and Chicano Park Day was in full effect!

Hundreds of dope lowriders everywhere, and thousands of people from all walks of life were enjoying the sun, music, vendor booths and especially the lowriders!

In Lil Watcha's own words, "Damn, I've been missing out all these years!" (Yeah it was his first time, and my fourth)

If you have never been to Chicano Park Day, you need to do yourself a favor and go!

A nice view from above... This is just one corner of Chicano Park!

Lil Watcha recording some Pits. All day we kept saying this show has the best looking cars, girls and dogs...

It wouldn't be a 'hood' without street vendors.

We took a break from Chicano Park to go eat in Chula Vista.. Just in case you didn't know the best tacos come from a truck (at least in Caifornia)

Times are tough, but at least he's got a wolf watching over him.

What could be worse than Fuck?

After eating we headed back to Chicano Park then to the Tribal Store in the Gas Lamp District of San Diego. Tribal has some dope gear. Every time we go to San Diego we make it a point to shop Tribal and say hello to Carl and the rest of the crew. On Saturday Tribal had Dj Muggs and Estevan Oriol as special guests.

After doing a little shopping we checked into our hotel room, cleaned up and headed to celebrate The Legend's Birthday in Pacific Beach. Good Times!

Legendary!

The walk back at around 3:30 am... long but very Legendary day!

See you soon San Diego!

On the Scene

We've captured hundreds of thousands of pictures while shooting cars for Deadend Magazine in the last six years. We're not the best, or even close to it... but we sure have a great time. The cars are the reason we shoot, but meeting the owners of the cars is what's really cool. I'm not sure if most photographers are like us, but we don't just shoot a car shake hands and go, we usually hang out, talk, sometimes go for dinner and a drink. I've had a great time and have made some good friends while shooting cars. Sometimes we shoot a car in an hour or so and spend the next 3 or 4 hours talking... Here's a few behind the scene shots...

Photographing the March Meet in Fomoso, CA is always fun.

Here are the on-lookers as I shoot Joe's 35 Ford... We almost never travel alone, our friends love tagging along with us.

This may look staged but I can honestly say it's not.

Big watcha looking out for me as I shoot a car in traffic.

My carnal hanging out with Joe Epstein as we shoot his picture perfect 39.

As we're about to go shot RJ's bike..

On Whittier Blvd.

That's me shooting Randy's Chevy.

It's not always safe.

Southbound

Had the pleasure of going down to Southern California for the weekend.

Left Salinas after 8pm Friday.. Checked into a hotel in San Diego at 3am, woke up to go to J&V's Christmas Party..
Here's me, Silk, Lil Watcha & my brother at J&V's

Some of the ranflas at the show.

Old School!

Old School! Amigos Car Club gets down!

Pretty much sums up the day

After the show we headed downtown San Diego to the Tribal Gear Store... To get laced up with the latest designs.

The homeboy Carl at Tribal knows what's up and supports Deadend!

After talking with Carl and buying some new Tribal Gear we headed to the Loowrider Tattoo Gran Opening in Fountain Valley.... Got Ink?

Some nice arte on display!

The Squish Story

So I few months back my brother and I were headed southbound on the 5 towards San Diego via Ventura... right after passing the Anaheim area we ran into a lot of traffic... Stop & Go traffic... My brother of course fell asleep while I cranked up some Mac Dre to try and stay awake.

As we drove into Oceanside I couldn't take it anymore I had to get out of my truck and the traffic and stretch out a little.. So I stopped at a gas station to fill up the tank.. my brother woke up and got out... He asks if I wanted anything from inside the store.. Monster Energy and a Twix chocolate bar sounded great.

As he walked to get my sugar fix I hooked up the pump to my truck and leaned on the bed of my truck (passenger side.) As I did this I noticed a big Van pull up (pretty fast) in the pump next to me.. I noticed the driver (we'll call him Old Dude) and the passenger (We'll call her Pissed Off Wife) arguing. That didn't seem too odd... But then I realized why they were arguing, The vans gas filler was on the driver's side not the passenger side... So, pissed off, he pulled up and then cranked the wheel to his left (I was really bored and did notice all of this) Then he began to back up...

Here's where it gets interesting..

As he's backing up (slowly) it looks like he is about to hit a Chevy Suburban..

But he didn't... Not because he stopped.. not because the Suburban moved but because between The back of his van and his Suburban is a lady... I noticed and thought in my head "Oh Shit"....

He doesn't hit her, because he's going very slow... But he "squishes" her between both vehicles...

You're going to think I'm an evil person...

But I didn't yell, run to help or anything... I just looked at her... looked at him and pointed at the lady being squished... Old Dude looked at me and I very calmly said, "Stop."

I think he read my lips because he stopped looked at me in confusion and then was even more confused as the lady he had pinned between two vehicles started yelling..

"You Mother Fucker! You just hit me!"

The Lady squirmed out and began banging on the Old Dude's van as she walked around the back to the drivers window... Old Dude pulled up to the pump as She continued to yell at him...

Old Dude gets out of the van looks at me with a very confused look... and right at the very moment I realized how hilarious this is (maybe I am evil) and try not to laugh...

Old Dude asks me, "Did I really hit her?"
Me, (trying not to laugh) "Um...Yeah.."
Old Dude, "Fuck, I'm just trying to get some fucking gas! Son of a bitch!"
Me, (still trying not to laugh) "Shit happens..."

By then I had finished pumping and was walking to the driver's side of my truck laughing...

I must've had a huge smile.. cause as my brother walks towards me with my energy drink & choclate.. He just looks at me and asks, "Why the fuck you smiling, Fag?"
Me, "Dude... You just missed it.."

We get into the truck and drive away as Pissed Off Wife and the lady that got squished started arguing...

I told my brother what happened and we laughed hysterically for awhile in traffic...

My brother made a very good point, "If you didn't do anything except stand there and look why didn't you take out your cell phone and record it for me?"

Haha

That's not evil is it?

I mean I pointed and told the Old Dude to stop... and he did... right?

Peace

4th of July Weekend 2009

Spent the 4th of July weekend in the San Diego area (which is becoming a tradition for me)

My brother, Andy, Dj Sho-T & I jumped in a rental and headed south to pick up Fitty in Oxnard. We planned on going to San Diego that night but decided to spend the night in Oxnard and go out in Ventura, good choice... we had fun.

Woke up from a quick morning hour nap and headed to San Diego.

Our first stop was El Cajon for the Strays Car Club car show.
We had a good time in El Cajon even though it was really hot, the Strays fed us and kept us cool with plenty of water and beer to drink.

Then we were off to Pacific Beach to go walk the beach
Beautiful view

All the water made Sho-T have to piss, haha

Lots of people out on the beach enjoying the nice Southern California weather

Drunk "Bro-Dudes" will do anything for free stuff, "Sweet free Redbull Bro!"

Had to take a pic with the TA El Gordo sign haha, and no that's not an area code, it's a race car

Saw this nice Lincoln parked in an alley, wanted to jump in and drive it

After spending the day getting sun burned and tired from all the walking we went to book a hotel room. Once at the hotel we took a dip in the pool and got ready to go out. Once we were ready it was late and Pacific Beach was packed with people so we went out downtown.

Woke up the next day and headed to J&V Automotive in Chula Vista to shoot Joe's bitchin 35 Ford

I was shooting while the rest of the fellas looked on.

After the shoot we headed to eat the best mariscos I've ever had, and went shopping at the Tribal Gear store. After spending too much money we were northbound towards home.

Dj Sho-t got inspired and was ready to shoot for his new album dropping soon
So we shot last night

As you can see the little guy has been working out.. haha..

peace
