Exposing Salinas

I'm pretty stoked to be a part of this photogrpahy exhibit and to have designed the flyer..

Will (at Somos Media) and I talked about doing a "Salinas" photo exhibit over a year ago, then we kinda put it on the back burner. A few months ago my buddy Mark asked Will if we've ever moved forward on the "Salinas" exhibit... We hadn't but Mark asking was enough to get the ball rolling..

I think we did a good job of gathering some photographers who will shed some light on the culture (not just agriculture) in Salinas.

Los Angeles Roadster Show

I go to the Roadster show to not look at roadsters, but rather to check out the cars and cool junk at the swapmeet.

There was some neat stuff this year.

I've always been a fan of vans... but lately I've been obsessed. My brother was checking out a caddy while I was geeking out over this van.

This little Econoline is just cool.

Susan taking the Bean Bandits Bonneville racer for a spin.

Is there life after loco?

Y que?

This was a cool sign.

Overall I had a great time at the Roadster Show. Cars are awesome, but hanging out with good friends makes it even better!

Weekends were made for fun..

Had a good weekend...

I'll start off with pics from Thursday.

Freddy, my brother and I went to Salinas Boys' shop to shoot a few flicks of the bike Cole and the boys were finishing up for a Japanese client. Beautiful bike.. really clean & compact. These guys are on top of their game...

Here's my brother & Freddy looking at the bikes..

Aaron putting some last minute touches on the bike before it heads for Japan.

Two awesome and very different styled bikes being built at the same time.

Then On Friday night I met Lil Watcha in San Jose and headed to the Royal Jokers Cruise Night in Oakland...

I was backseat driver.

Here's Lil Watcha's Impala sitting front row at the Cruise Night.

There was a clean 61 Impala at the Cruise Night.

After the Cruise Night we headed to downtown San Jose to meet my brother & Big Ed to cruise San Jose...

It was cool to see a few low riders out.

Saturday.. I woke up early to make it to the Marina Swapmeet, but not early enough to sell, story of my life.

As I was taking off Diego was about to eat breakfast.

Saw a cheap little chain steering wheel, almost bought it just to have it... There were some deals to be found.. too bad I'm broke.

Here is a neat little Sportster that was only going for $7,500

Took my god daughter with us to the swap meet, it was funny to watch her run around look and touch stuff and ask a lot of questions..

Here she is as we're leaving for her "Brudder's" birthday party.

After we walked around the swap meet and didn't buy much we headed to Chendito's birthday party. It was fun, watched some good college football, ate some tri-tip (small portion.. boo) drank a light beer and played with the kids a little.

Then later that night I went to have a couple drinks with some good friends...

Sunday I woke up early to design a rush logo job, watched NFL and went to go get more ink... I'll post pics of my new tattoo soon..

Peace

4th of July Weekend 2009

Spent the 4th of July weekend in the San Diego area (which is becoming a tradition for me)

My brother, Andy, Dj Sho-T & I jumped in a rental and headed south to pick up Fitty in Oxnard. We planned on going to San Diego that night but decided to spend the night in Oxnard and go out in Ventura, good choice... we had fun.

Woke up from a quick morning hour nap and headed to San Diego.

Our first stop was El Cajon for the Strays Car Club car show.
We had a good time in El Cajon even though it was really hot, the Strays fed us and kept us cool with plenty of water and beer to drink.

Then we were off to Pacific Beach to go walk the beach
Beautiful view

All the water made Sho-T have to piss, haha

Lots of people out on the beach enjoying the nice Southern California weather

Drunk "Bro-Dudes" will do anything for free stuff, "Sweet free Redbull Bro!"

Had to take a pic with the TA El Gordo sign haha, and no that's not an area code, it's a race car

Saw this nice Lincoln parked in an alley, wanted to jump in and drive it

After spending the day getting sun burned and tired from all the walking we went to book a hotel room. Once at the hotel we took a dip in the pool and got ready to go out. Once we were ready it was late and Pacific Beach was packed with people so we went out downtown.

Woke up the next day and headed to J&V Automotive in Chula Vista to shoot Joe's bitchin 35 Ford

I was shooting while the rest of the fellas looked on.

After the shoot we headed to eat the best mariscos I've ever had, and went shopping at the Tribal Gear store. After spending too much money we were northbound towards home.

Dj Sho-t got inspired and was ready to shoot for his new album dropping soon
So we shot last night

As you can see the little guy has been working out.. haha..

peace

Lone Star Round-Up 3.2

Well finally made some time to go through my photos from my Texas trip.

here are some photos from Saturday & Sunday at the Round Up & Wellington Texas.

Hope you dig 'em.

Saturday

This was the Round-Up, I thought this kid's expression was priceless

After the show we had a bite to eat then headed to Congress Ave. (That police lady popped me for open container, but let me go... she said, "If you can put that beer in a cup for me, I don't know it's beer".... now that's Southern Hospitality)

There was already tons of people lining the streets...

I walked upstairs to check out the gallery... and you can see how packed Congress Ave. was

We were having too much fun, and the sun seemed to go down real quick...

Cars were cruising around all night

My buddy Juan wanted me to get a pic of his Chevy in front of the Continental Club.. It was pretty hard.. lots of cars, cops, people getting in the way.. plus I had had a few drinks.

Took a few before the police told me to get out of the street.

Had to take a photo of the Continental Club sign

Big Watcha & Greg

Noah pointing something out... (the pics get worse & worse... haha)

El Jefe's car

Sunday..

Woke up early Sunday morning to pack & get ready to leave Austin for Wellington, snapped a few pics of Rod Powell with Flat Top Bob & Neil the Snowback with the artwork Rod did for them.

A close-up of Neil's little man.

When we got to Wellington (about 7 hr drive) We were greeted by Chabelita..

A last shot before we called it a night.... I can shoot all day & night for a month at Wellington Texas and not get bored... Cool stuff.

I'll post the rest of my trip later...
